removable m35a* hitch idea

I think of mixture of both would work best for me . I like having the 2" reciever at the bottom so I can have either a low 2" ball or a low pintle .

This really looks like it is useful and not permanent, so it can be moved from one truck to another, depending on the need.

Does any one still makes those ?

I got pics of this one, NOT my truck
I think I like the one in the 1st post alot better. I've studied the photo, and have come up with a few improvements:
2" receiver tube, instead of a ball.
Rings for attachment of safety chains.
Narrow the unit down for weight reduction, just so a Guy wouldn't need abdominal surgery after installing.

Do you have any additional pics - possibly a top view?

What keeps it from sliding side-to-side? Does it "just fit" between the frame rails (need the top view to tell)?

Very nice concept.
I agree, there's room for inprovement based on individual preferences, too.

I'm assuming that bolt you can see on the right-hand side, prohibits side to side movement. I suppose there is one on the left also, however it is covered up by the photographer's finger.

After looking at the pics I've got some ideas. How about another brace that goes under the crossmember and hits on it. Then add some sort of stop that the brace hits aginst to limit side to side movement or maybe holes in the crossmember and weld some locator pins in the brace. I'm just trying to figure a way to make it work without having to bolt/unbolt it to take it on and off.

Thanks for posting those additional pictures. I was thinking that it had to be bolted to that crossmember, or it would allow the hitch to rock forward every time the brakes were applied. I really like the way that other hitch that was posted about a while ago had the two struts that went forward and were attached to the framerails. I'm going to design/build something like that, except I want to pin the struts to the hitch instead of having to bolt it together and instead of installing/removing it, I want to be able to pin it in either the up or the down position. So it's always there, but it's not always in the way.
