Last weekend, I had a front bearing in the alternator start making an ugly, intermittant squeal. I searched, but no luck on rebuilding the alternator. Does anyone offer a kit with bearings and stuff? Haven't looked in the TMs yet to see if there's a section on it. Guess I should do that, huh?

if you ignore it, the bearings won't be the only thing broken. Once the rotor begins to rub the stator, ruin comes fast.

I knew that. Unfortunatly, I used to do Onan generators. It should be a piece of cake...I hope. I'll most likely get another one and rebuild this one.

Well, I got tired of looking at the truck just sitting in front of the house, so, I have this lube spray from Slick 50. Gave the alt a few squirts in front and in back of the front bearing and at the area of the rear bearing, let it sit, then fired it up. WOO HOO! no more squeal! Charging good, no problems noted. I will still get another one at Fontana in2 weeks, but I got to drive it today and it was like a reunioon with an old friend. Sure missed driving it. Maybe I can take it to Fontana!!!

Will, and others.

In regards to the Fontana Run, I was just wonder that same thing.

Is the Deuce alternator the same as a 5 ton?

I am asking this as Fontana has a lot more 5 ton stuff that Deuce. Might be nice to pick up a spare noting yours going Ka-Blewie!

OPCOM, Cranetruck, & WillWagner have lost alternators or had problems with them (that I can think of off the cuff). Good reason to carry one along with the spare belts I already carry.

I would think, as long as the engine is a multi, it should be the same. There are two, the Leece Neville 3002AC, D and E, and the AMA5102UT that work on the multis with alternators.

The Humvee 60 amp generator is the same as the one in the M35A2. I dont know which 5 ton your referring to, so I cant comment on that.
