Fueling my Deuce getting ready for winter storage and I see coolant leaking under radiator. Inspection showed that the lower radiator hose had several small cracks near end that connects to radiator.
I went to NAPA and asked for part number 7372 and the guy crossed it to a Gates 20611. This hose was about two inches too long and it had a spring inside to hold the shape. Cost $18.99 plus tax. I cut off the end to match the original hose length and had to cut the spring also.
Installation was easier than the old part removal but total time was about four hours. Very tight space to work in. I think this hose with the spring will hold the shape pretty good. Heading for winter storage tomorrow.

I wish I had known to cut the hose before I put it on. When Gimpy and I got the old engine out of the blown Deuce I noticed why it was so hard for me to put in two years ago. Too long. It was kinked and pushed into the engine mount.

Doh!!

Brown truck delivered a NOS lower hose from Saturn Surplus today. I ordered this because I wasn't sure I could get a NAPA/Gates crossover part to work (see post #1).
The hose from Saturn Surplus, on the left, has the offset to clear the engine and also has a spring inside to hold the shape. Old hose is on the right. I am now ready for next time.:DIMG_2328.jpgIMG_2329.jpg
