Working on replacing the master cylinder and Air pack and using the TM. I am having some issues with the air fittings that go to the air in specific the one in front of the top bleeder mine seems to have had a check valve in it is this right or like the TM shows only a 90 . Or is that Part number 2 page 263 figure 12-20

It's hard to tell from your photo, but it does look like you have some type of a one way flapper valve. the odd thing is i have never seen one like in your photo. Most of the one way pop it valves i have worked with have had a cage to contain both the coil spring and the check ball and most of the flapper valves have used a pig tail spring on the swinging gate unlike the coil spring in your photo.

This is probably some type of safety feature to prevent a complete loss of air in case of a major air leak in your trucks air brake system. Think of it as a duel system master cylinder like on your cars brake system. In the event that one line in your cars brake system were to get a hole in it the other independent side of the system work keep working, i think this is the same thing here.

Having a closer look the check ball is still there and the spring blew out as you see it. They list that check valve in the TM. I found a replacement that will work

I have also not seen this but my .02 would be it keeps the incomming air from returning to supply. It would have to exit the airpack exhaust.

I am guessing that it is there as part of the TOW AIR system that 5ts have.

I have my suspicion that I was loosing my brake pressure because nothing was attached to it and it was wide open ?

Trying to troubleshoot my hard brake pedal issue. I removed valve at rear of air pak and manually added air. All sounded and appears normal. When I removed air line that feeds rear of air pak there was no air. I followed line to Air Pak check valve assembly and adapter and suspect it may be it. Where did you get new check valve?

Thanks

Rich
