Hello.
My M1028 is perfectly stock and was well maintained by the military and a fire department as a brush truck. It has new glowplugs (installed by PO), and I'm replacing the starter relay, the glowplug relay and I'm rebuilding the alternators (the stuff is on order from CUCVelectric). Since I'm doing all of this stuff, I figure I should do the resistor bypass for the GP's.
I have a few questions about it though.
1. What guage wire should I use?
2. Which post on the junction block should I use (if it matters)?
3. I have read and fully understand the theory of operation of the GP module. Will doing this mod affect the module or any part of the system in a negative way (aka the voltage sensor, or any other system)? Are there any drawbacks to the bypass?
4. Should I just disconnect the current wire from the resistor and just tuck it away somewhere?
Like I said, my truck is 100% military issue with no changes or mods to it. I just want to make sure this is ligitimate and wont hurt anything or affect the original functionality (other than making it better) in any way.
Thanks,
Will
