The resistor in the center of the fire wall on my 85 m1009 was glowing red. What can cause that?

Was your glow plug light on as well? The resistor should have current flow unless the glow plugs are on. They shouldn’t be on more than 20-25 seconds with a cold engine and 20° F outside temps.

The glow plug system on the truck has a push button I think maybe it stuck on.
