Interestingly, my parents and my kid just visited NMUSAF earlier this month. Mom commented that the one display she was not thrilled with was the presidential airplanes display on WPAFB. That said, they have Columbine III, which is very closely related to this acft preserved indoors.
There is no such thing as a Lockheed Constellation that doesn't need to be preserved at this late date. They're all beautiful, and they're all historic. As I commented to CGarbee on the catwalk at Udvar-Hazy looking down at the EC-121 there, "It's impossible to take a bad photo of that airplane." If this one gets TLC and donations because it carried a president around, well fine. But it needs to go to a good home somewhere.
Even better would be if somebody, anybody, had deep enough pockets to fix the spar rot problem on one and get it flying again. The only one I know of in flying condition is in Europe. They're even prettier in the air, and sound great, too.
