Now that is a good question, and I don't know the answer to it.

Depending on the material of the pop rivet, also called Cherry max rivets, you may be able to pull them manually but it could be tough. We use a pneumatic puller at work.
Google cherry max rivet using the picture search and I think the ninth or tenth picture will show the puller and installation. It's a pretty nifty tool indeed.

I've never used it but I believe Warthog's tool will pull them also.
