Rough idel and white smoke

i have a 1985 m1008 i just put in another 6.2l engine after a oil cooler line broke on the last one i also installed a electric fuel pump and another injection pump while i was at it and now it white smokes alot and idels rough untill i give it a little gas then its fine i turned up the idel and it seems fine now but i dont think thats the right fix

Sure you didnt buy an engine with a bad head gasket?

white smoke is unburnt fuel or water ..... gray is oil and water... black is fuel burnt and 2 much..
