Given what I know and have learned over the last 20 years, mind you I don't have much experience with American Bosch, just Robert Bosch, Cummins and a little Cat. Governor break, no load, is usually 150 t 200 RPM over loaded max governed RPM. Just went and put my foot to the floorboard, 3000 RPM no load governor break. The pump is sealed, I haven't jacked with it. Are there 2800 governed engines/pumps used on the M35?

Re: Rpm???

I heard rumors that some later deuce's were set at 2800 for max loaded rpm. Mine will run to 2800 with a load, I personally keep it about 2500 or so. Might be since my pump it turned up.

I don't want to run it up there, all it would do is burn more fuel and cause problems...like the above pictures! I was just curious 'cause all I have read says 2600 max RPM. Guess someone musta put it on in the dark! Thanks guys.

One of the 5-ton LDS engines supposedly gives 2900RPM, it's the one with the hydraulic pump? but still I wouldn't push it there. Want 3000RPM, get a chevy big block!

WillWagner, if had an extra sack of cash and was 3000 miles closer, I'd love to have that 85 crew cab. That would make one tough looking CUCV clone and useful too! Man, why wasn't I born rich instead of so darn good looking?

The Continental engine troubleshooting manual for the LDS 465 gives a maximum no load speed of 2850-2900 RPM. This manual is in the TM section and is a must read for deuce owners. It gives a teardown and reassembly procedure for injectors, and gives some insight as to why there are 2 styles of injectors. It also gives quite a few different methods of load testing the engine so as to meet the maximum rated power output.
