Where can a guy get a NEW Mx-6707 for a decent price? As well as the As-1729 antenna etc to go with it? I've looked into ebay and they look a bit spendy
One on Epay right now: Military Antenna AS-1729/VRC Full Kit In original Box - eBay (item 350325938665 end time Mar-09-10 06:13:04 PST)

At 51 bucks or so. Will probably get bid up in the usual $150-ish range closer to the auction closing time, but you never know. Just keep an eye on it and bid as close to the end of the auction as you can. Failing that I don't know of anyone who has NOS MX-6707s or whips. All mine have pretty much come from scrapyards as serviceable turn-ins after the changeover to SINCGARS (plus maybe a half-dozen plus kit from vehicles about to go out as range targets.)

I plotted the SWR of a couple military antennas here. Not the one in this thread, but the no-tune AS-3684 one for sincgars and an unusual high band VHF one. Let me know if it is useful. If I had in my possession the kind here, I would gladly analyze it over its range plus a bit. Just send me one!:-D

AT-677 plot (VHF High band, civil air, 2M ham, MURS)

AS-3684 plot (SINCGARS and RT524/RT246, etc)

Good info, thanks! Looks like the
AS-3684 would work great on the FM portion of 10 meters, as with some of the European sets that tune below 30 MHz.
