Anyone have any experience with rubberized undercoating? Suggestions?

I am thinking of spraying above my rear tires (not on a stock bed).

GM has been using gelled calcium sulfonate as an undercoating lately. It's self-healing and can be applied to marginally prepared surfaces.

It's wax-like so you don't want to use it in places it might rub off on you like engine compartments.

ifffff.... your going to coat..... yuo need something that sticks extremely well..... and ABSOLUTELY prevents air AND water from getting behind it. Hence why most these days use quality bed liner-ish Poly? stuff (rubber bits embedded or not) stuff. And you want to coat it in a large enough manner the stuffs edge fits a way so it is physically harder for water/air to penetrate at that edge/paint line.

Rubberized coating is a HUGE fail. It generally just results in sealing in the moisture and salt and causes worse corrosion - any minor rock chip will cause corrosion to spread under it. The best choices are self-healing surface coatings like Fluid-Film, Blaster Surface Shield, or a wax based coating like Cosmoline.

Please don't use rubberized coatings. It will destroy your truck.

Thanks all. No undercoat. I have red oxide primer. Will probably just paint and touch up as needed. At least I can see what is happening before I do more.
