Safe canvas snow load?

Anybody know what's considered safe as far as snow load on a canvas top?
I removed about 14 inches of snow from my cabtop canvas the other day...

I'm not sure but I do the same thing to my deuce's tarp. Climb in the back and push up to knock the snow off.

I was thinking, stick a sheet of plywood on top of the canvas and you won't have to worry about it unless the bows cave. Of course you could just be like someone I know and go out and try to melt all the snow with a propane weed burner...

Moisture content is the troublemaker. I've had 18"-20" on my cargo cover but it had very little moisture content and the wind blew most of it off the next day.

While stationed at Ft Wainwright, AK we made it a habit to sent Soldiers to the motorpool to clear snow off vehicle and trailer tarps after a snowfall. I don't know the snow load limit, but It's undoubtedly a valid concern. I have seen roof tarps and bows collapse from snow.

When ours used to be outside they had a plywood cover made to fit over ..looked after everything.

the time spent shoveling is nothing compared to buying a new cover.

Pushed the heavy wet snow off the cargo cover yesterday and as it slid off you could see the bow rise with the weight coming off.
