Took my Deuce on a camping trip this weekend out to a place called Mc Cain Valley in the High Desert in ca. ( pics will follow) aprox 100 miles one way, man she ran great a hot ride but a good one all the same. The main purpose was to get the gear to the campground in one Vehicle, This was accomplished with no problem the second was to see how she would run and basically shake it down to see what would break. Honestly I didn't expect parts to fly off and none did. On the trip out we ran it as close to 2500 rpm as possible temp a little over 200 no problems a couple grades took me down to 45 mph but if I wanted to get there fast I would have taken something different. on the way home I sorta let it settle out to the speed she wanted to run aprox 62 to 64 at 26 to 27 hundred rpm temp no higher than 200 again ran beautiful exept for one thing I will cover below #4.
1. Little pull to the right Very minor tie rod has a slight bend near drivers side stearing arm is this arm supposed to be bent ?
2. During cool down Idle (5 min) got a little oil blowing out of the road tube a splater pattern about the size of a small dinner plate in the dirt as well as a littl smoke comming out of the road tube Does this sound right?
3. We hit a lot of bumps and ruts on the 10 mile plus dirt road going in and comming out each way lost the drivers side headlight ( wont turn on wires are tight) are these things sensitive to vibration?
4. at top speed on the way home it sounded like compressed air or something was blowing around the pas side of the vehicle is there a turbo relief or some thing and again I might have been hearing things.
5. Brake pedal bounces up and down about 1 1/2 to 2 inches Just enough to bang around in rough roads is there supposed to be a return spring to keep the pedal fully in the upright position.
6. Lastly (so far) when I parked it at home there is a slight incline on my drive Mabee 2 to 4 teaspoons of oil leaked from the drain hole where the fording plug goes this is the one that bothers me the most I am suspecting a bad main seal has any one changed a clutch / mainseal before who could PM me with a PH# so I could ask a few questions
What clutch/throw out bearing would you use ( might as well change it out if I have it apart) also would Napa have the main seal)
7. Ok Ok this is the last question (for now) I reading a post by sasquatch santa ( I am sure I hacked the spelling on that. ) In his post he stressed Main I am very pricky about this on my other Vehicles so I want to start with the brakes I bought this truck from Idaho Motor pool so I did pay a premium for it but she is a nice truck and they say they go through every thing BUT......I would like to at least go through the brakes when you guys do brake work do you buy new wheel Cylinder's or just rebuild do you do new axle seals and repack at the same time. If so what is my parts list and who would you recomend to buy the goodies from?.
