Hello all, I searched the site but couldn't find any real info. I am considering doing an auction for an 803. Seems most popular places for auctions are in Ohio and Georgia. I am in North East(south of Boston). I have gone to GP and used their quote system and am awaiting some answers. I am looking for real world experience and suggestions on how to go thru that process. The shipping of a unit is only part I don't necessarily trust. Thanks for any help.

https://www.uship.com/ with UPS Freight. I priced out an 803 just a few months ago, and it was under $400 to my dock in western MA from GA.
That's not a bad price from Ga to Ma. I got a quote once from one of the shippers GL lists on their site from Groveport,OH to Tifton,GA for $680+/- for the 803A I was looking at.

Being a truck driver by trade, i can tell you that most rates will be around $1.25/1.50 a mile for the 803A's. Sometimes you can get a cheaper rate if the company has more than one pickup at the location and if it's going in the same direction as the rest of the freight.
The bigger and heavier it is, it'll be put into a higher freight class...which is more expensive to haul. And then there's the fuel surcharge.

Most carriers wont take them unless they are on a pallet. You cant move them with a pallet jack thru the built in fork slots. The GP guys are good and if they have an extra pallet they will throw it under the gen for you. Some carriers still wont take it because its not secured to the pallet. You can usually mail the site a ratchet strap and they will throw it on for you. Uship does have the best prices around for small freight shipments and has a very user friendly web setup.

I am 110% happy with every shipper I have used on UShip, they are just hardworking squirrels like us trying to get a nut, so if the rate seems cheap, kick them a little when they deliver. A 20 goes a long way with dirty old truck drivers.
