Carlo I saw this thread before I left and I made sure to stop and take
a few pics while I was still in the snow up north. My M925A1 sat in
the snow for 2 months. The night before I arrived the temperature
was 7F , Seven, as in between 6 and 8 ! Burrrrrrrrrrrrr! I arrived,
I gave it a 4 second shot of Quick Start in the Air inlet some 10'
or so off the ground, I jumped down into the cockpit, hit the starter and,
1 Second, 2 Seconds, 3 Seconds FOUR SECONDS and VaROOM!
She started...after 2 months of sitting! WooWHO!

Here are the pics, one has a Freeway sign in it, who knows where I was exactly ??? ;-)

NICE truck and great photos-Looks like the same place I took mine but only a few thousand miles away. Thats a A1 right? I have a 931A1 and she is adicted to ether (hop I spelled that right). I have BIG batteries in her but she likes her ether. My 923A2 I have never used the bottle even one time. That little cummins has her advantages but the big block 250 is a monster.
Where were you at with this photo? In california?

YES, AN M925A1 1986 Flavor, a repaint over Desert Storm colors. USMC

When I picked it up in Spokane she had sat in 7 degree weather the night
before and had not been started in over 2 months. I gave'r a 4 second
shot of ether up top and hit the go buttons and she lit off in about 4
seconds, it was fast. My grin, not knowing what I was facing, in the snow and
in the cold w/ being 1400 miles from home, I was aprehensive, when she
lit off I estatic w/ HAPPY! HA! I had only driven the truck once before
so I had no idea what to expect. Were the batteries dead, etc. All the problems
I had was a low tire, easy fix, and water had melted and refroze in one of my
tool bags, no biggie. My Coleman Catalytic Propane heater proved to be
a GREAT tool to have in the cold. Oh, a lock was frozen, the Coleman
made short work of that. I drove her 1500 or so miles w/o any issues.
Today I washed it fo rthe first time and flushe dout the last of the Kuwait
sand and other cooties...These trucks ROCK!

That series of pics was on the 90 Fwy I believe in Idaho.

Forrest , IL is about 100 miles south of Chicago and the last couple of years the snow seems to through the Chicago area or the southern part of the state. Right now were getting some ice and then its supposed to change over to rain for the next two days and warm up to around 60 degrees :confused:

Artisan- It appears that you are you using magnets to secure the winter cover. If so, does it stay in place? I recently installed a winter cover on my 932 and didn't really likee drilling the 50+ holes, but it seemed like there were few options. I also don't particularly like the cheesy way the big "shoe string" laces the cover to the clips. i really want to use clips like what hold the soft top on, but the slots in the cover were not big enough, so I did it according to the instructions with hardware provided in the kit.

Good eye! Indeed those 6 magnets worked very well.
In a perfect world maybe 2- more would be ideal but
the 6 worked w/ slippage. I too did not want to drill
all those holes for many reasons. If the magnets were
attached it would be even better.

NOTE; I removed the entire cover after about 1/2 hour
of use, it was too much restriction even open w/ about
a 6" opening. I will eventually refine it I do believe so
I can open it must wider and attach the magnets by
sewing them into the unit in perfect places.

Those magnets are SUPER Magnets. If two of them
touch they will likely need to be split w/ tools, you
will have one he11 of a blood blister to remember
your mistake by as well if not a broken finger or finger nail.

Need Deeper Snow

M52 gas job all chained up for the winter, after bringing a M172A1 up the icey hill to home. The snow also provided a good test for the interaxle differential on the M916A1. You can get only one rear axle spinning (both wheels with the posi) then stop, engage the diff. lock and it nails it.

What size chains fit the 11x20 NDT's? I've been thinking of switching over to commercial truck tires for around town, but still running the NDT's for now. I don't want to have to buy TWO sets of chains! Of course, if I get commercial tires the same size as the NDT's that would make it a moot point. So, what size commercial tires will keep the same outside diameter as 11x20 NDT's and I'll just get chains to fit that size tire.
