As any HMMWV slant back owner knows, rear-view is none. Even with side mirrors it is terrible. Reason why I decided to add a rear-view camera - no big deal, but I would like to share how I did it, and a cool feature, auto shut-off…

Bought a system at Amazon (very good quality), wireless camera (https://a.co/d/4ZVQamZ).

attached the camera to the roof, so the rear vision is 180o. Ran the power wire thru the turret/machine gun ring. The screen I’ve used a screw from the polycarbonate turret cover to affix it.

instead of pulling a dedicated 24V circuit to the windshield/dash area, I’ve used the wires #441 from the windshield de-icer/ defroster! The cool thing about them is that after a few minutes it shuts the system off automatically.

Each side of the defroster there is a pair of wires all labeled #441. For a 24V service, just use a pair from either side.

I didn’t want to use a circuit linked to the reverse system, because I wanted the camera on regardless.

Bought the original wire plugs but they didn’t arrive in time for these pics
