So, what do you use your blackouts for?

Just wondering, i use mine when im warming it up a night for the hell of it, or when im offroading and theres other vehicles around or im near the borders of the property to avoid attracting attention. Or just a stealth mode while messing with friends, (as steathly as i could be with a deisel). I may use it on beach riding too. Any habitual or whatever else uses do you guys have for it?

I use mine in conjunction with the IR filters over the headlights while cruising with the nightvision. It puts out just enough to brightly illuminate the road in front. That old gen1 stuff can use all the help it can get!
You never know when you might need a low light too, good stuff to have:razz:

wait IR filters and nightvision? do tell.. haha

square ir filters to cover the lights will only project light above 808 nm, and will add a lot of range to the nv gear you are using, good late gen 3 stuff does not really need much in the way of ir illumination to work well or at longer ranges

thanks to wikipedia, i now have a basic understanding of what your talking about. Those ir filters with the gen one stuff sounds pretty badass, but i have way too much light around here to be able to use it or enjoy it

The lens part of the light is easily painted over, it should be plenty bright to see the ground at least 15-20 feet in front.....

The local Wildlife agents have mil-spec blackouts fitted to their SUV's. Looks kind of weird seeing a modern sleek SUV with clunky blackouts bolted on the front & rear.
They do a fair bit of creeping about to catch poachers, trash-dumpers and so forth.
Caught me and the Mrs. once too... Depending on ones point of view, We were doing nothing criminal.
