So..... I know this isn't a military truck. But I made the bed myself and it is militarily inspired. I will get to my HMMWV weld truck next so have patience with me. This is an old 24 valve Cummins I bought from a friend. It was stock and white at that time with no bed,

The lead reels extend out on actuators. Those ammo tubes store arc rods. The cooler rolls out to the side so I don't have to climb up to get a cold drink. Thats a 3/8" thick work table in back over the toolbox which I made to hold my tools as pictured. I put that dual compressor setup together to supply air to the bags, an obnoxious train horn and a chuck for inflating and blowing off debris.

Been through several 1 ton trucks including this latest one and after using my bobbed M35A3 on some pipeline work I am convinced that military trucks are the way to go for this line of work. The civilian trucks now are $85k and up and I just don't think they are built tough enough so I use that rationale to justify spending that money on building a HMMWV to suit my purposes. This truck has been more than a year in the making and I am still working on getting it complete. The stock motor just wasn't gonna work for me, I carry about a ton of of gear including a welding machine. So I opted for a Duramax conversion from Hline.

Those first gen Plab B doors were horrible. The rv windows were a terrible idea. When open, the tint doubles and you cant see the mirror. Plus you can't comfortably put your arm out. Not than theres much in the way of comfort in one of these trucks. But I tried to make it nice with some seats from Braum and some fiberglass doors from Global parts. The doors look and work better, have power windows and locks but the mechanism inside is so cheaply constructed it mind blowing. theres actually a piece of a coat hanger used and a giant zip tie holds the inside door handle in place.

Bent this 2 inch sch 40 pipe to start building off of. Connected with 1 1/2" tubing. I'm trying to make this so the things that attach to the tubing are bolt on so some day I can ditch the work gear and retool for fun. Along the bottom tubes are 2" x 1/8" flat bar so that I can drill holes for attachments.

Welding trucks are a fascinating sub-culture of trucks. Almost always on a 3500/350 or even larger chassis, 100% work in the bed, with almost no room for anything else, and then some have been absolutely pimped out in the cab/front. The amount of capability for a specific mission puts even the military to shame. Always fascinating to see what's up with them.
