Sometimes the manual doesn't have all the answers

Look in the control panel. The plugs are on the Bottom of the control panel.

First take the wire off K8-3, and measure from there to the Burden Resister. If you get nothing, then unscrew P6. Look at the schematics to see what pins to check in P6/J6.

P6/J6 can also be loose, or have a bent/burnt pin. Open the lower door s lay on your back with a light and inspect.

Ok. I found the smoking gun. I removed both wires from terminal 3, K8. Wire 166B goes to J6-3. Wire 166C goes to R12-1. I unplugged P6/J6. R12 is open circuit. R13 is 7.9 ohms. Double and triple checked readings. Seems I need a burden resister. Thoughts?

Maybe check the solder joints on the R12, might get lucky. Chase the resistance from 166 to R-12 & from there to P6/J6, maybe a wire is broken. JMO

Great minds think alike. I checked the continuity of the wires from the resisters to K8 and , I think it was pin 3 of P6. All good there.

I also checked Ebay. Lots of resisters but none with 7.5 Ohms. There were a few 10 Ohms.

I've searched and didn't find that resistor as well and a direct substitute that was previously available. An option would be to use a RE70G7R50C02 chassis mount resistor.

I learned that a couple volts difference between phases can mean a lot on these gens. I had about 4 volts difference and didn't think much about it but once I got my contacts polished in k1 I had .2 volts difference at most. I got lucky and the problem became more pronounced and forced me to look into it more so that's how I found that I wasn't getting good contact on one of my phases.

I had looked in that k1 the day prior and thought things looked okay. I guess what I bring from this is little things can mean a lot on that circuit. I guess when you are dealing with single digit ohms a couple more makes a difference..

I've ran full load and beyond for several hours now. I'll be interested to hear what caused your problem.

I checked the voltage on both sides of K1 and they were spot on. (at 4K). Good info to know for sure! My problem ended up being an open circuit on R12. Makes sense now. I am trying to find one of the illusive buggers!

Yup. If I have to. It just means that I will have to fab something up and do some soldering and shrink connecting. I'll give it a couple of days and see if anything turns up,

Well, it looks like these are getting pretty scarce. I am still waiting on one guy who may have one. That said, I ordered 2 resistors from Mauser. Should be here on Wednesday. They are considerably larger than the ones that are there. I will figure something out. There is room next to the resistor panel. Rather than mounting it to the wall, I think I will make a second panel and mount both new resistors to it. That way I will have the hard work done when the next one fails.
