Spray gun tip size for Carc?

I'm shooting some of my vehicles and doors. I got a Husky HVLP kit from HD. It did a pretty good job but the pattern is about 1/2 of what I expect. The guns come with 1.4 tips. I think I need a 1.9.

(I'd like to try a larger tip without thinning it first.)

Curious as to the size tip others are using.

Did you ever try a larger tip size? I sprayed some hmmwv sponsons today with Sherwin Williams Carc. It definitely needs a larger tip as it's thick even when thinned a little.

No I haven't gotten around to it. WOrking on a shop right now before I do anymore Hmmwv work.

I thinned my CARC exactly per the instructions and used the 1.4mm tip on my harbor freight gun with great results.

Only thing I found in the instructions was to thin with distilled water. How thin did you make it?

CARC wants a 1.8-2.2 tip but I have sprayed it all the way down to a 1.4.
