NEW 24V STARTER MiLITARY VEHICLES 6.2L DIESEL ENGINE

i have a m1028 and my starter went out just wondering if this is a good replacement
there also seems to be oil dripping where the starter is ?
when i try to start it it the engine does nothing but on the left side where the starter is there is a screach like the gears in the starter are damaged? any info would be nice thanks

Ditto on rebuilding the oem starter. The oil leak may be from the valve cover, you will have to get in there and poke around. The screeching is probably the starter gear grinding against the flexplate. You will have to inspect all the teeth on the flexplate, if any are damaged you will have to replace it or risk damaging the new starter again.

dont forget the brace on the back of the starter, make shure its there and check it for cracks. Just last week had to extract a broken starter bolt in a civi 6.5 (failed due to a cracked brace) customer tryed to remove the bolt and broke the "easy out" off in it .......fun fun.

oem, original equipment manufactuer, have yours rebuilt. A good shop should be able to rebuild yours for about $100.00.

Be sure that you have the support bracket on the back of the starter and replace the mounting bolts with new oem bolts. All the part #s are available on this site.
