QUESTION ABOUT Starter solenoid 24vdc M1009

I thought the solenoid on these was 12 vdc, well thats what I put on and after it woudn't turn over started checking voltages and found its 24vdc to starter solenoid also, so I was wondering if anyone knows where to get the right solenoid for my starter? thanks. I guess I shouldn't have assumed it was and checked it out better before I changed the solenoid, old one was cracked and water would get in it and short it out.

Depends on what type of starter you have, a old style direct drive or a new style gear reduction.
