Starting Voltage or Lowest Control Box Voltage?

I just got my M817 after waiting 2-1/2months for the EUC! Finally! So, I have now found that my batteries are only putting out 17VDC and will not charge any more, so it is probably time for some new cells.... But, I was wondering if it is normal that there is no power what so ever in the cab, lights, ect... Does the Control box cut out power to all other functions on low voltage condition? I've checked the low oil cut out, and that is giving me continuity... Anyone have any ideas? Also, is there any recommendations on batteries?

17 V is definately to low. Charge them by an external source. If the are rechargeable, o.k..
Did you check the single battery? May be one is broken down and supplying only 4 to 5 Volts. So this is a dead one. Replace batteries by new ones, for the momentarily good one will die soon.
The system useually will not work below 18V.
