All,
Looked in the TM section and did not notice anything. First, did I just miss it and if not, second, does anyone have one in a PDF format or such for e-mail?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I just loaded the operator's manual and parts manual for the STE/ICE-R.
It's in the Tech. Man. section.
Operators Manual TM9-4910-571-12&P

Parts and Maint. TM9-4910-571-34&P

I guess it will be available when it's approved by SS.

Sorry guys, I can't approve those manuals. Neither is approved for public release and the site admins frown on putting up stuff not for public release. Sorry folks.

Our Friends (?) at LOGSA list 3 manuals in .pdf format in this series but none of them are approved for public distribution. You would require a current security clearance to proceed to the next area to download the manuals. I'm sure that this is just another example of "reclassifying" the manuals as a low priority task. The equipment is available surplus, as is a lot of other gear but the manuals are still held as not approved for public distribution, etc. BLAGH!!!!

TM 9-4910-571-34&P INCLUDING PARTS AND SPECIAL TOOLS LIST SIMPLIFIED TEST EQUIPMENT FOR INTE COMBUSTION ENGINES REPROGRAMMABLE (STE/ICE-R) (NSN 4910-01-222)

MWO 9-4910-571-35 SIMPLIFIED TEST EQUIPMENT FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTI ENGINE STE/ICE (NSN 4910-00-124-2554)

TM 9-4910-571-12&P OPERATORS AND ORGANIZATIONAL MAINTENANCE MANUAL INCLUDING REPAIR AND SPECIAL TOOLS LIST FOR SIMPLIFIED TEST EQUIPMENT FOR INTERN COMBUSTION ENGINES (NSN 4910-01-124-2554)

One thing is to have the equipment, another thing is to know how to operate it. The STE-ICE is a very simple piece, althogh slightly confusing piece of equipment to use. If the STE-ICE still has the flip cards still attached, the startup and simple tests are listed. Most updated manuals will have STE-ICE procedures for that perticular vehicle. The most important things to have are all the cables and sensors / adaptors associated with the test set. all the adaptors can probably be found at a hardware / home depot / loewe's type stores. I used to use my units STE-ICE all the time: 1. because the equipment was set up for a STE-ICE and 2. because the unit lacked any decent Electrical testers (anolog multimeters). To put things in perspective, a STE-ICE is to a modern digital multimeter as a Pentium computer is to a Commadore 64. :D rofl

I realize that this is an antiquated unit, but it looks cool! I got a complete kit recently with everything in it except for the good manuals. It has the flip cards and to be honest, I don't think that anything in the kit has ever been used!
Heck, my cell phone has more computing power than the STE/ICE but a tool like this is unique and it will complement the whole military vehicle experience and maybe it will come in handy one day!

It is a great piece of equipment. I've been trying to get my hands on a complete one for years. It can be used to troubleshoot the 25 amp charging system. You could always request a manual thru proper channels. The proper channels are printed inside the manual, if that isn't a catch 22. Have you tried using it? Most test require a clibration/offset value to be checked before running the test. It's really simple to use, just takes a little patience.
