Hard to pass by the Rail Roller (HyRail) I agree. But I did - in favour of TONKASAL's truck. I really like the back-story about the brother and his unit numbers etc AND the black star colour scheme.

I'm going to be sad on March 31 when BigMikes beautiful bike rolls off the Home Page. Here's hoping TonkaSal replaces him in style.

I have to get to a real computer to properly go back through the pictures of my truck saved in the Steel Soldiers picture loader.

She is a 1984 CUCV that was used at Ft Stewart, GA. At some point in the mid 1990s the Army bought a set of hydraulic kperated rail gear, commonly called hyrail gear, and the truck was assigned to the bases railroad system for inspection and maintenance. The South Carolina railroad museum purchased it in 2008 through the federal surplus program. I got it running and we used it quite a bit. In 2011 the musuem had quit using it and put it up for sale. I found it on a rail equipment site, they never even let me know! I bought it and the rest they say, is history. While it was owned by the museum we used it to survey and record the old Port Royal railroad. This railroad served the Marine training base at Paris Island and brought fuel to the air station there. This line is now gone forever.

Just a quick pitch for pitpawten M35A2. This truck was the realization of a childhood dream. (Who hasn't watched Ghostbuster and been more impressed with the deuces than the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man?) He found this truck via Steelsoldiers and bought it from a member, sight unseen, and had it shipped from Spokane, Washington to Centreville, Mayland. He uses it for his little "farm" and to make the next generation of kids desperately want a militarily vehicle.
