To provide another example to demonstrate the extent to which I restored my M1028, please consider my doors. At the point in time when I lost complete control and decided to restore/rebuild the truck with no regard to cost, I stripped the truck down to the cab on the frame. I removed the hood, doors, glass, dash, seats, and everything else that could be removed with the exception of the wiring harness. Because the truck was from Arizona, there was not a spec of rust to be found, even under the door sills. The cab interior was hand-sanded, primed, and painted with 383 CARC substitute. I stripped everything out of the doors and to my surprise, the interior of the doors looked like new. While I had everything apart, I decided to sound-proof the doors. I cut thin cardboard templates to fit inside the door panels perfectly, and then transferred the shapes to the DynaMat sheets, outlined them, and then cut them with scissors. It was kinda tricky to get the DynaMat pieces into the door interiors, so I left the adhesive backing on until I got them aligned perfectly in place, then peeled the backing off and pressed them firm. I then purchased new window operators, vent window assemblies, door locks, and key cylinders, and installed all this in each door. In summary, my doors are in new condition, and are sound-proofed to boot! here are a few photos -
