Well when I come to look my steering box is leaking from the seal really bad are these rebuildable and also what part number are they if I were to get it at discount auto parts it should be a gm steering box any help would be appreciated thanks rookie

So far, with my new to me HMMWV, I've found next to nothing at local parts stores.

24 volt items are like hens teeth, and I'm finding just about everything else on a HMMWV is similar. I guess it's what makes it a hobby!

I find that most of what I can find at the auto stores is rebuilt and rather junky....or just plain junk.
another reason I try to stick with NOS. but steering gears can get quite pricey....I went that route once, got a rebuilt gear by Cardone at O'reillys....it looked like a 15yr HS auto shop student rebuilt it.

I stayed at Holiday Inn express...

I have not worked on a humvee specifically but have worked on GM steering boxes. Typically changing the top o ring / seal gasket is not a bad job. Just 4 bolts.

Check out the tm, don't take just my word but if it is like a 80-90's suburban/pick up not too involved
