They all have their issues. Mine is an early one that I got specifically because of the 614 miles. Newer ones have a bit more power. They're all good n my mind. Enjoy.

What model would you be looking at, it did not say in your post? You mention a modified tractor so I am only guessing but your thinking of a 1088?

A1078 would work but a 1088 would be nicer for an rv platofrm i think

The 1088 isn't just flat frame rails once you take the 5th wheel off like the M931 models.

So, I am definitely gonna get one of these trucks. I just love the cab over designs and such. How does the 1088 compare in the highway to the 1078? Maintain the same road speeds?

Same 57mph or so top speed. 1088 has extra axle and a bit more power. 1078 is more useable. Unless you plan on pulling a mil trailer the 1088 is not practical.

Are the axles the same in a MTV as a LMTV? Just three instead of two?

The tractor rear axles are different than the 1078 rear axle. Although the axle shafts and hub gearing may be the same.
