Stuck Brake Drum

My right side brake drum on my M1028 has gotten the best of me. Axle shaft is out and the locking ring is removed. E brake is off. The wheel would not move by hand when I started on it. The adjuster is frozen and I am letting it soak overnight in PB blast. I was able to work it where I can turn the drum to the rear by hand but not forward. It feels like the shoes are holding it on the top. I can move the bottom slightly when I pull on the drum. Anyone have any Ideas????

I have cut the nail heads on the back side of the backing plate. Also used a slide hammer on the hub. That is a whatever it takes job. Another reason I always replace hardware and lube or replace self adjusters that don't move freely. Can you keep the back end jacked up and spin the drum with the power train? I mean what ever it takes is the only good answer. Good Luck. Have a Great Day and Be Safe.

Last time wheel cylinders checked???? May be full of muck and with brakes adjusted properly and unable to back off is not letting you get past outer rust/wear ridge.

Have not had a chance to get back to fighting with it. I did pop the nail heads with no luck. The wheel cylinders are not more than 2 years old. I did open the bleeder and removed the brake line. I might try a hydraulic spreader to force it off if I can borrow one from work for the day.

I must do jobs like that on a daily basis. What ever it takes to get it done. And may I add with out risk of injury or loss of valuable parts. I see guys beat steering wheels off with hammers. That is NOT a what ever it takes situation. they have tools for that. Get the point? Be Safe and thoughtful. One wrong hit and the whole project is wasted. Good Job.
