Tank vent

I was wondering how does the OEM gas tank on a M1009 vents. I noticed my 1009 has a line leading out into the passenger side rear wheel well from the gas tank that seems to have been plugged off. I took the plug off and heard a sucking noise with bubbling that indicated the line that was plugged off lead to somewhere inside the tank that was under fuel. I also confirmed my fears by sucking a little fuel out of that line.

Im curious to see what all of you other guys have attached to this line. Im thinking there may have been a check valve and breather on there at one point. Id like to remedy this problem before heading down to rausch creek for the MV rally on Friday, so im kind of stressing out here:confused:

That is for getting water out of the tank. Keep it capped.
Oh, well it all makes sense now :-D

But I still kind of want to know where the tank is venting so I can tie it into my snorkel system, kinda looks like it just lets air seep past the cap or something of that sort
