If you have a 250 Cummins pull one bolt at a time that holds the water pump an use Never-Seize on the threads. Replace and do another till all six are done. Bolt is 9/16 and there are six of them. You might thank me later.
Also this is the grease I use for the water pump.

Better to find out now in your yard than when your belt breaks on the road and you can't tighten the new belt up.

I want to add to this, WHEN you have to pull the water pump for ANY REASON, use a good bit of GOOD anti-seize on the NEW gasket (ALWAYS REPLACE the WP gasket), other wise there is a VERY good chance that the copper gasket WILL GULL and LEAK when you adjust the belt over time.
