Textured floor on some CUCVs

I am wondering why some CUCVs have a textured floor. Looks like some sort of bed liner. Can anyone share some info about that? Not all CUCVs have this textured floor. Thank you.

It was a non-skid coating that was applied. I had seen a military directive to remove all the rubber mats and sound deadening material from the CUCV's. All that OEM mat and jute did was create a rust haven. As many of you know that material will stay wet for months and years if sitting outside. I never seen an OEM CUCV that did not leak water and most of the time I had seen them parked the windows were down and M1009's many times had the rear window broken or inoperable setting outside. I seen 3 M1009's sit at the same place for over 3 years at FITG. all 3 had the windows down and were rained and snowed it. So that stuff on the floor was poorly applied most times and is next to impossible to remove. Good Luck.

The stuff was applied by the military to better protect the CUCV from rust. Did I understand that correctly? It is poorly applied with a brush I think.

I don't think they were concerned as much about rust as much as giving a non-slip surface because the wet bare floor was like ice in winter. When they rusted the military would code H the vehicle and sell or destroy it. No loss. Safety was more important to them than RUST.
