Ain't that the truth!
Buy a Deuce, Bob it, buy a trailer, still not satisfied, now looking for a good deal on a second deuce!
Where will the madness end?

I'm for finding a group of new friends! Glad things went safely in the recovery!
Sounds like the average deuce recovery story, just another adventure...HaHA..These things grow on you quickly. Before long you will be buying another one..

Definitely have to agree with the other posts. You need to find some new "buddies". They abandoned you in Montana with a unproven vehicle! Glad you made it back alright but, you need some more reliable "friends".

I guess you can't control exactly what others do when they're in another vehicle, even if you notoriously micro-manage others.

Next time you'll know to make them pull driving duty on the way over there. At least that way you'll be rested when you get there (stay away from the caffeine! Let the adrenaline wear you out and put you to sleep) Also, if they're a little tired you won't have 2 people willing to zoom off and go have some fun. Of course, if none of them wanted to share time behind the wheel of an awesome duece then they might just be douchebags.

lamp on one's head

I got one at wallyworld for cheap, has different modes, 1 white lite on, 2 whilte lites on, 1 red lite on. Never thought of using it in the deuce. (the lower left flipper on the light switch in the truck turns on the bulbs that shine onto the gauges). Enjoyed reading the write-up of the trip. Best of luck to you with the truck.

Just thinking of taking a deuce with no brakes down Stevens Pass would have my butt suctioned to the seat.:shock:

Glad you made it safe, and welcome to the addiction

hwcurtice, the red lamp affords the ability to use a low light during night ops. This allows you to see at night while keeping your pupils dilated for night vision.

Nice recovery. Gimp and Westy call that kind of recovery a Tuesday.

Glad you're on a nice big boat.

I was stationed at Whidbey Island a lifetime ago (for you younguns anyway), just a short ferry ride from Everett. Beautiful country infested with left leaning individuals. Great story but you will need a 24v to 12v converter to run your wiper. Instead of that you could put two wipers in series.

I'm still kinda rubbed the wrong way about your "buddies" leaving you. You know what they say "Buddy is only half the word" Glad you made it though.

Great, now I have the blue falcon cadence stuck in my head.

You should have posted on here. You drove right by me and I could have helped you square some stuff away before you went over the pass and maybe even got some rack time. I have done that drive across Montana when I moved here and it is no joke, even in a civi rig.

Hey guys, tried loading the videos, but can't do it from my phone and my Internet won't be installed for a few days. I'll do my best to get pics up.

And to clarify, I had brakes, they just aren't what I'm used to.

I meant 12v blower, not wipers. The blower went up in smoke last night. But while it was working it was amazing!

I have sound deadened the trans tunnel and parts of the interior fire wall. I got both wipers working. I've stripped of the fire departments/ forestry reflective tape an started painting the deuce blitz
black today.

I completely cleaned it from head to toe found a few leaks.

I will start new threads soon. So far I've moved 2 people into thier new places and right now am moving my new roommate in. I am on another 40 hr period with no sleep.. Just too much to do and no time for food or sleep!

Oh and decided to name this deuce 'Epic Deuce'

Hehe, I hear you, I went through the same painful thoughts when I brought mine home. And that's exactly what my wife still thinks...
But today I wouldn't give it away anymore for anything, to me it's part of the family!
Looking forward to the pics!

Cheers,
Mark

When I did my recovery I also had that draft from the back of the cab. Sore neck the next day. The rubber cord intended to hold the soft top to the back of the cab was broken. You can get replacement but the next best thing is a nice strip of velcro.

My driver's seat was not a dust generator but the shock absorber failed and it was like driving home while sitting on a pogo stick.

Thank goodness you didn't need those losers who left you. I mean seriously, that was just so wrong on so many levels... Be sure to come up with some fitting punishment, or lacking that, if any of your marine buddies can find a DI. I'm sure he would happily list the failings of your escort (for them) in exquisite detail.

Glad you made it home safe, I'm looking forward to your pics.
