Cdn u.s. M211

I'm still digging for the story on this M211 CDN with American stencil on it. If anyone has seen a camo pattern like this and might have info that it's military and not some after service, handy can of paint project, I'd appreciate the feedback.

Does "Attach Stuck White Knight here" mean anything and does the number have any Historical significance?

Searching 413277815 only nets me sin.

Looks like some original Canadian decals on the hood and although I really like the camo colors, if it's not representative, this truck may soon be OD.

I'm no expert, but it doesn't strike me that the camo pattern matches the vintage of the truck. That's a real nice rig, though; good find. [thumbzup]

With the US number on it it looks kinda like the Camo scheme that came in the early 1970's MERDC. I suppose it might be possible a truck might hang around in the National Guard long enough to get that Camo scheme. It looks like a not so good brush job though. :3dAngus:

Man, that looks sweet! All there, and very straight looking. As for the American reg #'s, that's a mystery. The door number is Canadian, because my very first M135 had a 84 something on it, so that looks authentic, but maybe the reg number is not "real"? Does it match any numbers in the truck serial numbers on the frame or plate?

Where exactly is the "attach stuck white knight here" moniker?
If it is above the pintle hitch I would hazard a guess it was some soldiers little joke in regards to a howitzer, code named white knight, that was stuck during a maneuver. The M211 was probably the only piece of equipment that could pull it out.

This is not my truck, but a friend of mine sent me the picture of this G749 fighting fires in the western part of the country right now. Neat to see them still in use!

M217/ m222

Just a life-saving picture, thank your friend for the send. That tank looks very similar to the tanks on the M217 and M222. It's kind of flush with the cab with that same sassy low-rider roll to the side. Yes sir, that's a collectible in my books.

The Washington fire-fighters have had a hard road. It's tough to see lives lost and with a real close friend as a fire-tech, I think about them. These guys should have the most modern equipment available.

I don't see a difference between the 217 gas version and 222 water version so maybe someone can shed some info on the trucks. I've never seen one, but I'd trade in my P-4 Oshkosh for it.

The G749 Family

I'm trying to be a solid family guy and we're hunting for each one of the G749 family series and others with accessories like the flying kitchen, pole truck, and one with an aircraft spotter light etc. Have enough M135's, an M207 and the M211....
Just missing these.....and I'd trade an OSHKOSH for more G749 crack with much sadness...then joy.

.....and the kitchen,

The tanks are probably hard to find because of lower manufacture quantity and rust. Once a tank is rusty they're probably gone so finding one, heck, seeing one is a treat.

The oddball/rare trucks up in Canada were the M133, M207 and the M216. All G749 series with the M133 chassis and cab only = M135 .....the M207 chassis and cab only= the M220 and the M216 = the U.S. M215.

Oshkosh vs G749....beauty is in the eye of the beerholder.

plowboy, FYI the M220 body is pretty much the same as the M109 body. Only difference I could find was the mullion that the black out shades slide in is a little different extrusion. You could use a cab-n-chassis and a later body to make an M220.

That is a VERY cool idea. How's the Collection to date?

Is the Tanker the only Prodigal Son/ Missing Link?

G749 Pictures

I guess this is the G749 picture thread so I can update and add more photos.

I'm missing all the trucks in the pictures above...and some, M133, M215, M216, M217, M220, M221, M222, ......say whaaat?

2015 trucks farm sec 849.jpg

I was lucky enough to find a shop van on a M207 Mr. Oldfart. I just splashed it last fall and it was camo..... I am going to need to 'create' a few trucks but they stamped the frames with the M207/ M211 and M135 pre-fix. I'm only guessing the M220 and the other models would be stamped too so to keep it pure, I need 7 more frames....and a gofundme program.

Here's Gracie the M207CDN shop van, More the M211CDN and Goose the M135.

Just a guess....they probably used different pump off systems. Fuel would be metered, did the military meter off loaded water?
The fuel tanker may also have multiple compartments for hauling more than one grade of fuel.

Different model G-749's

Hello Plowboy,
The picture you submitted with the truck mounted pole setter, is what I have been looking for for some time! There was one at my current address years ago, and sold for ..............$200.00 ............complete, with all tooling, truck repair manual.....fully functional......I bought the place, but truck was long gone. I posted pictures of what is left of it just lately on this site. SOOOOO sad...!!
