I was told that a new car(1989) has 1100 springs in it, all different.

johan77, PM me next Monday, that's the day before I go back to the Museum, i'll forget if you do it sooner, and I will look through a parts pile for a spring. I had to pull 4 air packs apart to find a good one the last time I overhauled one.

At least you have no mice in your brake system. The mice in the brakes is very common on RR equipment if the brakeman leaves the end angle cocks open when cutting out a car (especially in a rural area).
