Tie Rods - Steering link - Can't Find Parts?

Needing to replace some parts and I haven't been able to find them. From what I can tell, I need both tie rod ends or drag link and two other parts that look like tie rod ends that attach to the pitman. I can't find these and neither can NAPA. I'm trying to browse the CUCV parts manual, but can't find anything yet. Can anyone point me to where in the manual I can find these parts or if anyone knows what they are? Searching "Tie Rod" in the forum comes up with nothing.

Jack Lope,

Have you tried using the search function in the parts manual? This image is from the -20p. I found the page by searching for pitman, next page has usable part numbers.

Your local auto parts store should have what you need.

Thanks for the info! I found out that these parts cannot be picked up at NAPA, but instead need to be bought from a 4x4 store. I managed to find the parts I'm looking for at ORD.

The parts are standard K 30 parts 77 to 91 assuming were talking M1008 in

Do Not mention Military truck at the parts store.
They will have no listing.

Drag link end
ES 2027L (short)
ES 2026R (long)
ES 2011R (outer tie rod)
DS 905 (Long tie rod)

Those are Moog and others use same Numbers.

At NAPA, I told them K30. They found nothing regarding the parts I need. I never mention military truck.

New parts store for sure.

Most Parts are everywhere for the K30.

Like the other member said, only a few items are military specific
Rest is standard Chevy truck

They might have been able to find the parts if I had the part numbers at the time. I didn't find them until after I had already bought ORD parts.

Shouldn't matter if you had numbers or not.

A good part store will look them up for you. That is what they do.

I usually already have the numbers for them, but if the parts store needs the number from me for basic stuff then it's time to move on.

Frustrating for sure!

Countermen are not what they used to be. For the most part, I don't trust them. I just looked up the parts on the NAPA website and found listings for everything. Search vehicle was 1984 Chevy Truck K30 and search terms were drag link and tie rod. My suggestion, don't give them a chance to screw up your part numbers.

You sure hit the "nail on the head" on that one ! Most of these "parts countermen" are really just "parts kids" just out of high school. They weren't even a "glimmer" in their fathers eyes when most of the vehicles I own where made. All they can do is just what the computer tells them to do. The stupid list you have to go through to just get a spark plug is insane ! What year, make, model, engine, transmission, color of the front seats ! It's mind numbing having to deal with them !
I usually have the part number with me now, and just say do you have this number ? If they start to ask all the stupid questions I just say in a forceful manner I just want that part number period.
