Sorry we have many stories to share of our 20,000 mile 10 month trip. December thru January we started noticing rapid mold growth inside the radio box because of the Oregon seasonal rain. We decided to drive to the Black Rock Desert to dry out then at the last moment headed to Reno. With sunny weather for the first time in several months we started pulling out gear only to find mold on everything everywhere it was crazy. A decision was made to head back to the shop in Montana to see just how bad and how difficult it would be to clean up the mold problem. Upon our return it was obvious that every item needed to be pulled to be cleaned or burned. Montana was in the middle of a decent winter so we spent weeks cutting wood to heat the shop. Rebuilding/remodeling is where we are now.

Wow, sorry to hear about the mold infestation.

At least you folks are all healthy and happy and active.

Thanks......Yes we are all healthy and enjoying stretching out with all the space we have at the shop. Fixing up the m109 box correctly was always in our plans. Ten months on the road has given us extreme confidents that the money/time spent on our new build will produce a good results based on real life experience. The family has learned a lot! We are just excited about our build as we were about traveling. It’s just another part of the adventure.

True life experiences, in actual environments are a priceless "tool" in the reconstruction world. Now you know what and where you "need" things and how best to create a suitable exploration vehicle! Looks like your shop is capable. Any work done together is much more fruitful than something left to one person! Enjoy that family, the little ones grow up fast, different interest, different agenda,,,,,,,,,

Nice to hear you are all in one piece. No pun intended for the truck. Hope to see you all back on the road soon. Best wishes.

How's the box rebuild coming? Although probably far past this stage, any thoughts of buying a small commercial camper and putting that on the flatbed?
His rebuild is in a part 2 thread. Will have to find it. He is well under way. Almost ready to hit the road I assume.

I know this thread is old, but I had to comment. What an amazing story. His kids are really going to remember this and the photos will help. We all have fun and interesting stories to tell from our childhood but his kids will have the best ones!
