On a m816 what are the standard tires sizes? I bought some 12.5 wide 20 inch rim. Has anyone ever put those on a standard 5 ton rim?

I guess the question is, what is the stanard rim width? I don't have the truck yet. I have to drive it out from Mississippi, so I don't have a measure of the rim. It has standard military warn out tires on it.

The standard size tire is 11.00x20, duals. As for the ones you bought, they will fit on the rim, but will look silly on a M816. After all, they are shorter than a standard 11.00R20 (same diameter as 9.00R20). Maybe you should have considered the 15.5s sold at Carson on GL. I know who bought them if you are interested.

RE: Re: tires on m816 - 5ton.

Thanks, that was where I got those 12.5. I also got 11-20s old style in a different lot. I bid on those 15.5s, but they went to high for me. I just checked the overall diameter, and they are no more than an inch different in hight. Not that I am to woried about a funny looking truck. I need a strong snowplow. I broke my ramcharger last year. I am not sure that the 15.5s would fit the stock rims. My 12.5's have an 8inch rim sitting there. Probably can't use the 12.5 as duals. But the 15.5 would definately not work. Probably use 6 tires. I want to use those I have as they are radials. I will try these, and remove duals, on the back. I don't plan to toe heavy things now.

You can run them as duals or I would seriously consider another wheel/tire combo if you want to run singles. An M816 is a very heavy truck, before adding the additional weight of a plow.

He is correct on that being a very heavy truck. I think a 11:00 NDT tire would be a tad over loaded with a snow plow. Even a multi 5 ton with a winch is topping that tire to the max, I would go for the 14:00 xl tires and super rims

thats one thing i could not figure out why the m246 and the m819 calls for 1200s and the m62, m543, and the m816 calls for 1100s, according to the -10, the 246 and the 819 only weight about 35 lbs more then the other wreckers, you would think that all the wreckers would use the 1200s

Well, I looked at the load rating in them is 4410lbs. 6 tires makes 26460. Those trucks are about 25000 by all accounts, so it is just enough as long as I don't hall anything. But I also got 8 of the 11 - 20 old stile new. I could use those, but I need 2 more for the front. Hmm. I will have to think about it. I could sell the 21.5 on ebay. Thanks for all the input.

An M816 should weigh in at closer to 35,000 not inlcuding the plow you will add. An M816 is a wrecker. Is your truck something else?

nope. Mine is a wrecker. Rember looking on a sight and it said 26000, but this site it is 36000. I cant rember where I saw that, or if I saw that corretly. But everything I find now is 36000..
So I am going to have to rethink this whole tire thing. I might have to pick up 2 more tires. .. I have a lot of other tires, but none of the 20s have the same OD.
I can always sell the 12.5 online for what I have in them. Tey would make a grate set for a pickup. (Actually 2 sets. I have 8 of them.)

The T-flex are the 15.5 or the 11.00R20 ? I have 8 of the 11.00R20 . My 11 have a maxload of 5900 each.

Glad to see you are rethinking this. The 12.5 tire is not a good choice for a M816. There are plenty of other (better) options.
