I'm doing a major round of maintenance on Mah Deuce right now, and I'm pulling my hair out - trying to find the appropriate manuals to service this thing. For instance, Section 5 of the FAQ links to LO 9-2320-209-12-1, which refers readers to TM 9-2320-386-10 & TM 9-2320-386-24 for more information about changing the fluids and filters, etc. But the FAQ doesn't link to TM 9-2320-386-10 or TM 9-2320-386-24, and I can't find either of those TM's in the technical manuals/resources. I've been downloading and opening all of the M35-related TM's and LO's, but I'm not finding what I'm looking for. And searching the forums, I'd read about different versions of manuals, that are organized differently and broken-up into different numbers of smaller PDF's/documents. Can someone PLEASE tell me which manuals are the 'good ones'? And maybe provide me with a linky? Thanks in advance.

It would be REALLY cool if some of the more knowledgeable members might be able to direct newer members (like me) to specific TM's, according to what's in them. I just think it might be helpful if we had a more descriptive account of the contents within some of the TM's.

You have asked valid questions and I applaud you for doing the best you can to find this information. My response might be a little long but I think the explanation will be worth it. There are several different series of TMs for the deuce. When you don't know what differentiates them, you end up looking at 30 or more manuals thinking what the heck? I'm going to try (operative word here) to break these down. I'm only going to cover what we have on Steel Soldiers for now but remember there is the old gasser manuals that have a wealth of information but generally only available in print form. For simplicity's sake the 3rd series of numbers in a TM are the series. TM 9-2320-361-10 shows 361 as the series. What I suggest to new deuce owners is to have on hand the 361 series as it's only 5 books. There is also a 209 series that has probably 13 books and there is also a 1965 version of the 209s that has 5 books. As you pointed out, LO 9-2320-209-12-1 would be applicable as is TM 9-2320-361-10, TM 9-2320-361-20, TM 9-2320-361-34 and the parts books
TM 9-2320-361-20P and TM 9-2320-361-34P.
Now these manuals are broken down as such. The -10 is the operators manuals and the -20 is unit maintenance. Thats stuff beyond the operators ability but not quite and overhaul shop. The -34 manuals are depot maintenance or the overhaul shop manual. To further compound this there is a 2006 version of the -10 (noted on the PDF file) and instead of the -20 there is a -24 for later deuces. The 1965 versions of the 209 series are on here but are quite large files. I like them the best for most stuff and they do cover some gasser stuff.
In summary grab TM 9-2320-361-10, -20, -20P, 34 and -34P and you will be set for a while. I also prefer to right click and save them to my puter so that I can access them quickly in the future.

THANK YOU FOR ASKING ABOUT THE MANUALS!!!
Over the past few months I've talked to several of the "old timers" about some of the questions we get on this site. The old adage of no question is a dumb question is ok but questions showing an absolute lack of reading even the -10 manual shows a lack of caring.

In all these discussion we've had is a concern that at some point someone is going to have a major accident involving loss of life due to their ignorance in how to operate their MV. The concern is a deuce will roll over a family in a van. We can foresee the negative impact this will have on the hobby. I'm glad to see at least one 'newb' member is prepared and reading the manuals. It's easy to spot those that aren't for those that have been on here for awhile

With the 5 manuals listed and the LO above, you can take care of just about any deuce. The latest -10 Operators manual (2006 version) has nothing significant to add to the -10 linked above. I'm sure there are little tidbits of stuff floating around out there that aren't in this series but once you get to that point, we'll find you what you need. There will also be endless controversy over which series is the best. While the 361 series might not be the absolute best, it's adequate, very user friendly (for a TM) and readily available on this site. Sometimes having 40 manuals is too much. Just the same, about every one of them is here somewhere. One day I'll get around to uploading the 386 series (M35A3).

Thanks for the link. I actually downloaded and used that LO to lubricate all the zerk fittings on Mah Deuce (by the way, Lincoln's air-powered grease-gun is AWESOME). But I was hoping to find a manual that gave something closer to step-by-step instructions for changing the fluids and filters.

EDIT: I started another thread about my maintenance questions, so that we can keep this one on the topic of TM's and LO's and WOSMAMNHFITF.
