Ok thanks for clarifying. I've seen information suggesting there is a run flat insert in some tires. I guess I have more research to do.
The BAE caiman mrap uses the same rim as the fmtv/lmtv and those do have run flats but not the stock fmtv/lmtv application.

Thanks Juan, I figured it was something like that. Is the wheel material with run flats aluminum? Is that an easy way to distinguish? Or do the early MRAP's also use steel? Obviously the clear distinction goes out the window when people start taking them apart and putting on new tires. However, I wondered if we could narrow it down for new stock OEM wheels.

I believe they have different nsn.

I bought 3 brand new nos from Ft. Polk. They were black steel wheels with 395 goodyears. I mounted on the front of my M923 as same bolt pattern but .002 difference from stock m939 which I feel is not noticeable. I wanted run flats on front for piece of mind. I understand the run flats can be either rubber donuts or 3 piece metal. Not sure what I have as I have not broken down.I do know they weigh at least 500lbs.

My understanding is the aluminum ones also have the run flats. I looked real hard and researched as they were cheap and plentiful at the scrapper in Tx a few years ago with all the scrap mraps camians.

The longer studs required and different lug nuts killed it for me and the labor to change 60 studs.....

Work has me 200 miles away from home tonight. I have 4 tires ready and waiting. Time, all I need is time.

I plan to put these on the truck and haul the last 3 MVT’s with me to my buddies shop. The remaining tires to switch are on the truck and I will just mount the MVT’s and re-install on the truck while I’m there. I have no more loose wheels to install tires.

Thanks for the posts. This makes sense why some people say the wheels with tires on them are 350lbs and others say they are 450lbs. I'm certain the run flat insert would add a bunch of weight.

I was able to get four MV/T tires installed on the truck tonight.

I still have 3 more MV/T’s to mount on wheels. I will be taking the truck Sat back to a friend’s shop to remove the old tires and mount the new ones. At the end of the day, I’ll have all 7 including the spare!

Geez what's taking so long lol.
I know! I know... A few things get in the way timewise... work, wife’s knee surgery yesterday, teenage kids, work, church, clearing land for pending septic system repairs, work... did I mention work? auaLOL. I need to take vacation to stay home and tinker with the truck!

Ok Coffey. This is the tire wrap up for you. I now have 6 on the ground and a spare all mounted up with bead locks and such. These last three kicked my backside physically.

That is the last one being dismounted for the spare and here are the other 6.
