too hard on engine?

when i am cruising in my truck and put the pedal to the floor my truck smokes black. i know this is common with cummins. but can it hurt the 6.2 or am i just paranoid:grin:

I prefer to think of us as recycling. Recycling old vehicles and waste oil. We should be getting some awards or something. Just sayin... :p

Black smoke from these engines to a certain content is ok. However, in a almost unloaded (weight) condition this shoud not ocure! Are the opening pressures of you injectors at the propper setting. If they open too early, black smoke will ocure. And fuel consumption will be to high! If fuel consumption is permanently below 16 mpg, get your fuel system checked. Else the TMH400 also might arise some problems with slipping brakes. If fuel system is ok, get your transmission checked!
