HI, after reading the horror story one of our fellow Deuce owners had when his Tork rod bushings fell out has made me think of replacing them.
How hard is it and what if and special tool would I need? Tork specs etc.

Thanks Brock.:?::idea:;-)

Here is a very good write up regarding Suspension Torque Rods
http://www.roscommonequipmentcenter.com/news_notes/nn14.pdf

Also, regarding features of the forum ... if you look in the lower right hand corner of your post (after posting) you can go back and edit the post. Once in the edit mode, you can even delete the post.

If you look at the bottom of this post you can see that I went back to edit it to show an example.

Regards,
Rick

Hey Brock Steel! You can check them with a prybar. When you pry on the dogbone, if the rubber looks cracked real deep, you should replace the dogbone or try to r&r the bushings. If they move and only show no or slight checking, they are good to go. With that said, any time you do offroading, you should check them prior to the return drive home. It should also be part of your pre trip inspection. You need to have a big press and some collars to get them out and back in. Where is Lake Elisabeth?

The above article is a very good one! Can we include a link to it in the sticky section?

Brock Steel,
If you scroll down to the bottom of this thread ... and others you can find threads that contain similar information that will often answer your question.
Try these two threads:
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/19582-best-place-get-torque-rod-ends.html
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/6346-torque-rod-bushing-replacement.html

Will Wagner,
Regarding the http://www.roscommonequipmentcenter.com link, there is a lot of information on their web site. Being a retired firefighter, I have known of these guys for years. I'll take a look and see if there is an appropriate place in the wiki for links like this.

Regards,
Rick

Here is a few pictures of the hard work my mechanic had to do. We also found a rear oil leak in the drivers side first rear axle...A hard working guy for 75. :p

I feel you. sometimes S***t happens. My mechanic gave me a idea. He said to chain the rear
axles together so if the tork rods ever fail the chains will keep the axles from moving apart.
