towing m211

pg 70-71 of TM 9-8024,place transfer lever in DOWN, NEUTRAL position, and transmission in NEUTRAL position.do not pull disabled vehicle over 15mph,if towing over 10 miles, remove front axle drive hub flanges, remove transfer case to pillowblock drive shaft assy, and transfer to forward rear axle drive shaft assy.this is what the manual says to do ,iwould just pull the front and the 2 rear drive shafts, didnt say if you were using a wrecker but pull all of the driveshafts anyway, you can pull start one of these trucks ,so make sure you dont have any driveshafts connected or you will ruin the tranny, and YES all of the manuals are available for download from the technical library,TM 9-8024 operators manual,TM 9-8025-2 Hydramatic transmisiion ,TM 1819-AC maintenance,TM 9-8025-1 GMC Model 302 Engine, this is NOT an m35 so get the manuals before you try to work on the truck, tranny linkage adjustment is CRITICAL to proper operation of this truck, good luck ,keep posting, check the tire pressure also, especially the front, keep the speed down and watch the turns, didnt say what you are towing with so cant be more specific in answer :-D

re towing

without quoting the manual, the answer is still the same, remove front and rear driveshafts, really easy to do,remove both shafts from the rear of the transfercase, disconnect from forward rear axle, and from the pillow block that goes to the rear rear axle.,remove them completely from the transfercase, and on the front axle, you dont have to take it all the way out, just take it loose from the front axle and SECURELY wire it up out of the way, leaveing it connected to the transfercase, make absolutely sure that you dont have any driveshaft turning when you move vehicle, dont know what size wrecker you are using but remember there is 16000 lbs behind you, towed a deuce with a deuce using towbars,to much speed and the towed deuce pushed my m211 through a stop sign,,good luck, and get the manuals
