Anyone have any experience towing an m103a3 with a Dodge pickup?
It's a 2004 diesel 4x4 heavy duty truck with a six speed manual trans.

I'm thinking about buying an m103a3 and I just wonder about how it would handle behind my Dodge.

thanks

No trick question....

I was just reading that the m103a3 was normally towed behind a 2.5 or 5 ton truck and I was just wonderin' if I was going to cause myself a problem using the Dodge.

The 103a3 uses air over hydraulic (I think), so there wouldn't be brakes unless/until I could install some sort of electric over hydraulic unit. But I've got to get it home first.

I've towed the M116's long distances and they work fine and tow well as long as the surge brake unit is working properly -- otherwise it's 'clunk - clunk - clunk at each stop, go, and slow down all the way home.

Thanks for the reply.

It will tow fine empty, you'll know its there though. It will be nose down if your truck is close to stock. You can rotate the lunette down (if it isn't already) to get it closer to level(not something I'd worry about for the initial recovery though).

If you plan on using it with your dodge, you will need to re-think that. Picking it up and taking it home would be fine. Using it with the dodge loaded, your gonna have problems.
