BLACK FRIDAY is coming! And so is the San Angelo Toys For Tots Black Friday 12-Hour Collections Drive.

We will have our Command Post at one of the busiest retail commercial intersections - on the Best Buy & Academy Sporting Goods parking lot, with Marines also stationed on a couple nearby and almost as hectic intersections too.

Previous years Black Friday Events have been highly successful. I'll post an AAR asap - maybe on Saturday or Sunday.

Our next Toys For Tots activity will be escorting Santa & Mrs. Claus on their sleigh as the Grand Finale on the end of the Light of Christmas Parade through downtown San Angelo on Saturday, December 6th. Our deuce will lead the TFT entry followed by the float with Santa's Sleigh and "The Big Guy and his bride" on it.

Carry on.

Well, the Bergen County Run of the TfT Train 2014 got the series of 4 runs off to an '...OUTSTANDING...' start (to quote the 1st Sgt from Picatinny). Here's a short video of the train arriving in Wycoff, stop 3 of 6, just when it decided to get serious about the rain. Quick glimpse of Phil's 5-Ton tractor. The other 6 trucks from Art's Raiders convoy are just out of frame on the opposite side of the train to the left.

This stop, we had a group of about 6 boys and girls from 7 - 10 join us in the toy brigade line in the downpour to pass toys from the arriving vehicles to the baggage car. Wish I had pictures of that.

That PRR/REA car you see ended up stuffed by stop 5 in Pompton Lakes, and GForce's Deuce ended up packed to the tarp and tailgate with overflow. At stop 6 in Butler, the toys wouldn't fit on the train and went directly to the UPS relay truck along with the contents of the baggage car. The UPS truck and GForce took Saturday's booty to Picatinny last night so that the train could go on to its NY State run today. Those toys go to the former Stewart AFB (now airline hub).

Listen for those air chimes! EDIT: Just realized you can hear Art's Deuce at the very beginning as we were getting situated.

More photos and such as I get 'em.

2014-11-28 TFT Black Friday Collection Drive - San Angelo, TX

We've been quite busy here in San Angelo lately with Toys-For-Tots and other activities. I've gotten a bit behind on posting AAR's, so here goes.....

The Black Friday event brought in almost 1000 lbs of toys AND just shy of $38,000.00 CASH ! ! !
The recent oilfield activity in the area has certainly bolstered our economy and the generosity of the general public.
Again our Ops were based at a couple of busy retail intersections as well as some satellite collections at the mall, and other key retailers.

Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure...

2014-12-06 Lights Of Christmas Parade - San Angelo, TX

SURPRISE, SURPRISE ! ! !

In previous years, our deuce has been the only MV in almost any of the parades in town.
Well, this year one of our early arrivals to the staging area was a recently built 5-Ton Brush Fire Truck from the Pecan Creek Volunteer Fire Department. And then another surprise entry was a L-O-N-G 5-Ton carrying a local church group. One of the church members was able to borrow the MV from his employer - a cable pulling company that uses a pair of 5-Tons to open rights-of-way through ranch and farm land.

Here are some pics of this weekend's parade....

Here are a few more snapshots of Saturday's train, 1st and 2nd stops. We were too busy passing toys in the rain to stand around and take pictures, and people weren't hanging out like they usually do because of the weather. Even the guys who do the rail fan videos skipped all the station stops this year.

Check out the lady who looks like she's trying to push the engine over the kid who's posing for a photo.

As a wrap-up of the 2014 Toys For Tots campaign, the local USMC unit, with assistance from the Naval Detachment, the Goodfellow AFB Base Commander, Col. Kimberly Joos, and the use of the GAFB Recreation Camp at Lake Nasworthy the volunteers and volunteerism of San Angelo were special guests today for a Crawfish Boil & BBQ.

With summer schedules and such not all of the volunteers were able to attend, but for those who did, it was a special treat on a BEAUTIFUL day.

To help set the mood, we brought our Deuce - cruised to the lake with our CONVERTIBLE ! ! !

Here's just a few pics of the festivities...
