what is the difference between M101 and m116a2 ?

M101 moved to M101a1 moved to M101a2 moved to M101a3. M116 is essentially a trailer chassis as used in a complete M101 series cargo trailer. The chassis could be used for flat beds or generator platforms just to name a few applications. Frequently the M116 has a cargo bed mounted and thusly becomes in practicality an M101. Someone posted an example on SS of a trailer with M116 plaques on one side of the tongue and M101 on the other. A M116 a2 would denote surge brakes with 8 lug nut wheels. If it has a cargo bed it would look like an M101 a2
