Transfer case detent missing

The detent worked it's way free and fell out. I have the new parts on order but was looking for the best way to install them. The space is so tight against the full tank I can't get anything but my finger tips in there. Should i drop the fuel tank, transfer case? Thoughts?

You might try removing the bolts for the Trans Mount and see if you can push the tail end of the power pack over enough for you to get your job done.
