Swapping an LDS in my M109, and right now I'm working on getting the transmission and bellhousing. Put about 4,000 miles on mah deuce and never had any transmission-related problems, but noticed that there's a significant amount of play in the input shaft. Maybe close to 1/8" at the tip! Is that normal, or do I need to rip into this thing? Going all-out on the project, but am not inclined to put any more work into the transmission than I need to, mostly because if I keep it, I'll probably end up pulling it back out to rebuild and put one of Tom's 5th gear kits into it. But if there's anything that I really need to address now, I will.

Its fine, but if you do a lot of hwy driving switch your 90w oil to 50w synthetic. 90w dosent get in the oil holes in second gear but 50w will, and it quiets it down alot. The picture below is what happens when you have 90w oil and you travel at 50 alot.
