Transmission Mount

Hi all,

I did a bunch of searching but really didn't get an answer I was looking for. I was working on the M1010 this weekend and noticed the original rubber trans mounts are toast and need to be replaced. Looking for replacements it seems I can put stock rubber type in or Urethane mounts. I have used Urethane mounts in my hot rods before but that was replacing the engine and trans mounts together. In this case I am looking to just do the trans mounts at this point.

1. Is there an issue with running Urethane trans mounts but leaving the stock rubber motor mounts in place?

2. How much extra vibration does the Urethane mount add?

Thanks!

I did urethane engine and transmission on my Cowdog truck. The engine doesn't move and there are no driveline induced vibrations at speed. But, I would not do a diesel with urethane mounts again unless it was for competition use only. Idle vibrations. It just seems harsh at start up, shut down and at lower speeds.

Yes, you can mix and match if you wish. I suggest just getting a stock replacement and call it good for the next 30 years though.

I use the ORD competition style motor mounts and their urethane transmission mounts......sure the truck vibrates, but it's nothing worth worrying about......it's a 30+ yr old diesel truck!

Thanks for the input. Picked up a set of stock ones last night at NAPA. Don't really want to introduce more vibes than it already has. :)
